The Rotary Club of Fairfield City celebrated its annual Birthday Dinner at Smithfield RSL on Monday, 23 February 2026, in a wonderful evening of fellowship, community recognition and youth inspiration.
A major highlight of the night was the presentation of funds raised through the Carols in The Park Christmas fundraiser. The Club proudly distributed three major donations of $5,000 each ($15,000 total) to Bonnie Support Services, Anowah Community Living, and RFS Horsley Park. A further six community grants of $300 each ($1,800 total) were presented to Marion Primary School, Horsley Park Primary School, St Narsai Assyrian Christian College, Kemps Creek Primary School, Our Lady of Victories Church, and Fairfield SES.
District Governor for District 9675, Renga Rajan, delivered an inspiring address about community fundraising and the importance of Rotary clubs as a reflection of the people who make them. He highlighted the impact of Fairfield City Rotary’s Carols in The Park, noting how clubs like ours continue to make a significant difference in the community. In many ways, our club is proof that even a smaller team can cast a long shadow through service.
Another special part of the evening was a presentation from the Club’s sponsored National Youth Science Forum (NYSF) student, Salma Abou Azar of Cerdon College, who shared her experience at the 8-day program held at ANU in Canberra.
